Shelley: Day 4

Hello All, today was another solid day. I had a veg patty for breakfast (120cal) and then got busy and didn't eat until lunch. I was running errands and was looking for a Subway when the urgency of my little guys hunger drove me to go to Elephant Bar. I figured I could get a green salad and have them put some chicken on it but when I looked at their nutritional information WOW not a single item under 1,000 calories! So, I got creative.

I ordered a soup and half sami combo (with the lowest cal sami) and then when the only soups were fatty I had them put in a simple green salad with no dressing (all of their dressings were ridiculously fatty). I just squirted some lemon on and added some salt and pepper and was good to go (520 cal). The waitress thought I was kind of dumb and tried to explain more than once that it was much less expensive to order a whole sami with a salad (but I knew if I had a whole sami I would want to eat it). I shut her down and when she asked if I wanted sweet potato fries or regular fries I just asked for more lettuce. She thought I was a real weirdo but since I can't work out I really can't be making calorie expensive choices so I stay strong.

For dinner I had a salad but this time I got both the dressing and the croutons on the side(310 total with dressing, and very yummy). I looked up the croutons and they were 80cal of the salad and decided they just weren't that good. I had another bowl of chicken noodle soup (140cal).

As a nice little treat, PINKBERRY (100cal), so so good! I don't know if I could live anywhere where there wasn't a Pinkberry now.

BMR CALC: 1760-1390= 370 Deficit (I added 200cal for misc snitches of my little guy's food, mostly watermelon and orange.)
(For an explanation please see Shelley: Day 1 Post)

The best part about all of this is it is totally sustainable. I have done every diet, from Atkins to Volumetrics and the truth is you just have to eat less and work out. The key is to find a way to reduce your calories in a way you can live with. Yes, I really wanted dressing today, but I would rather fit into my clothes again. I'm sick of wearing the same five pairs of stretchy pants. It's just time to make this change and I'm so glad to know that at the end of every day I have to fess up if I fail and I don't like to fail, especially not in public. Thanks ladies for your support! Kaisi, I LOVED the motivational stuff from today! Thank you!

PS. The reason I keep adding photos of pretty healthy food to my posts is because it reminds me that really good food is healthy! Doesn't that salad look yummy!
