Katie Day 56

Happy Birthday to me!! I had such a fun and wonderful day today. Thanks to everyone who helped make today a special day, especially my sweet husband who put together a surprise BBQ for my birthday! I had such a nice day! This morning I woke up to scrambled eggs made with egg beaters and hash browns and Dan counted the calories for me and my breakfast came to 100 calories. I figured we were doing something tonight for my birthday so for lunch I had a protein shake for 120 calories. During church we had a little Primary Party and there were some really yummy looking chocolate chip cookies that everyone was eating and I am so very proud to say that I didn't have a cookie cause I was saving my calories for tonight. I am so glad that I saved my calories because I was correct and Dan had planned a party for me :) So for dinner I had yummy BBQ chicken, chips, artichoke dip, salsa dip, salad, fruit, and a chocolate cupcake with frosting! It was such a fun party and I feel so blessed that we have such good friends that came to celebrate the fact that despite my efforts in stopping time I have turned another year older. I have calculated my calories for today and I have eaten a little over 1200 calories, which makes me pretty proud of myself! Also one of my B-Day surprises was when I stepped on the scale this morning and I have lost more weight! HOORAY!!! What a great Birthday this has been!

Katie Day 53

Hello all, I have got to start posting nightly cause I am worried if I don't I will fall off the diet wagon and I don't want to do that as things are going good! Today was a very nice day, Dan is done with 5th quarter and I am so excited! I did ok today with my eating but I did eat more then 1200 calories :(

I have such an awesome husband! It is my birthday on Sunday and today he surprised me and took me out to dinner and the Mongolian BBQ and it was sooo good! Then for dessert we went to Pink Berry and then walked around a ended up at Starbucks and I had a childs hot chocolate for 120 calories. And I DON'T regret ANY of the food that I ate today! We had such a fun night! Thanks Shelley and crew for coming out and celebrating with us tonight! Let me do a quick run down of food consumption for the day :

Breakfast : Protein Shake 100 calories

Lunch : Panera (I didn't know we were going out for dinner or lunch would have been less calories, but still no regrets) 495 calories

Dinner : Mongolian BBQ about 450 calories

Snacks : Pink Berry, Hot Chocolate, I am also going to add a few more calories for snitching today 343 calories

I am so excited for my B-Day weekend! I have a feeling Dan has some stuff planned and so I hope to stay somewhat close to 1200 calories but we will see :)

Katie Day 51

Ok so it looks like we ALL need to start posting again! Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. My little man has been sick and so nights have been difficult therefore no posting has occurred. However he is sound asleep and I know that if I don't start posting again I run the risk of falling off the diet wagon and I don't want to do that! I am doing so good and have lost over 20 lbs HOORAY! Even though I haven't posted for a few days I have stayed on my diet and eaten 1200 calories each day the last few days. Today I had my usual breakfast of cheerios. For lunch I went to In n Out and had a hamburger protein style. And I must say that it was just ok and afterwards I didn't feel very good. In fact I felt pretty pudgy after eating it and I don't think that I will be eating In n Out again for a long time. I can't believe how much I used to love greasy food and now it just isn't that appealing to me. I would rather have a sandwich and a salad! Weird huh?! I guess it just goes to show you that when you eat healthy then healthy things are much more appealing then unhealthy food! I think one of the reasons is that healthy food makes you feel better and keeps your tummy from getting bloated (well at least mine). Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast : Cheerios and Skim Milk 200 calories

Lunch : Hamburger from In n Out protein style 240 calories

Dinner : 1 cup Spaghetti, slice of bread with laughing cow cheese 388 calories

Snacks : Cupcake, Hot Chocolate, Fiber One Brownie 261 calories

Exercise : Does crawling around on the floor with a baby count?

Shelley: Day 48

Funny, Kaisi didn't want to post and neither do I. I didn't post yesterday because our keyboard got Williamized and wasn't working but I would have been happier to skip today because today was not my best. I actually did really well until we went to a BBQ tonight. I had three pieces of licorice, part of a mint brownie, and some cake too. Ahhhhhh. But at least I brought light hot dogs and turkey dogs (PS. The turkey dogs were way better than the light Ball Parks.). I also had a Brussels cookie. Bad news. . .I haven't done the math yet so this could be good or bad. . . not sure.

Kaisi: Day 48

Hi Ladies! I do NOT want to be posting right now because I do not want to confess what I ate today!!. I woke up with my bug at 7am this morning, but she went right back to sleep after breakfast so I did too!. She slept till 10 and it was amazing. Sounds lazy, but lets be honest... being a mom can be tiring, especially when you are practically solo while the hubs is smack dab in the middle of finals. When I got up to go feed the baby her brunch the hubs took over, so I went to the kitchen to cook my breakfast. I am out of carb smart tortillas, so I made one egg on a sandwich thin instead. The afternoon passed quickly and before I knew it the hubster was off to work. I went to grab my leftover subway when I realized I never stuck it in the fridge and so the meat had to have gone bad. I was pretty bummed so I settled for a Diet Coke and a few triscuts. I had put Sadie down for a nap around 4 and she slept forever. It was around 6:15 when she woke up and by then I was starved. I have been holding myself back from going to all the new resturants they just just built down the road because most of them are pretty fatty ones, but tonight I was feeling bummed out that Marc was gone again all day and night and I was hungry so I went. Now, I regret it. I had Chipole and to be honest, it was kinda nast. Maybe I just didn't get the right thing, but I can tell you I won't be wasting calories there again anytime soon. My body has gotten (semi) used to eating healthy and the fatty Mexican actually made me sick to my stomach for the rest of the night. My hubster was asking me for two days now to make him cookies, so I made him some right before he got home tonight. I am proud to say I didn't eat any of them!. Well, I am off to paint my nails and watch some King of Queens! Stats below...

Katie Day 47

Hello Friday! This will be short as I don't feel very good tonight. Our entire household is getting over a cold and so today we all just took it easy and rested. It was nice to be lazy today. I slept in and Dan watched our little guy this morning. When I got up around 9 I had my usual breakfast and then we sat around all morning trying to get the energy to get ready. By the time we all got ready it was lunch time, but I didn't feel like fixing lunch so we went out to Panera. I changed it up a bit and got 1/2 a chicken caesar salad sandwich and 1/2 a greek salad. It was ok, I think I will try it again when I can taste things better :) We haven't been to Pink Berry in a long time so we stopped by and had a mini pink berry. After our little outing we ALL got home and crashed! Because I haven't felt very good today I wanted some comfort food, but I am kinda sick of Chicken Noodle soup as we have had that a lot this week. So I made my breadstick recipe minus the butter and turned the breadsticks into pizza. It was way good and I had 2 slices for about 392 calories. This evening we are all feeling much better which is such a relief! I think all of our resting did the trick along with Zicam and Vitamin C for Dan and I. I have a feeling tomorrow might be a long day as Dan has to study all day :( But as long as we all feel better and aren't coughing tomorrow then tomorrow night we are going to a little get together with some friends to watch the Holy War (which is the BYU/UofU Football game. GO UTES :) Actually I don't really care who wins I just think it will be fun! Wish me luck that I stay on my diet tomorrow night because football game food is NOT that low in calories. Here is what I ate today :

Breakfast my usual : Cheerios and 1/2 cup skim milk 155 calories

Lunch : 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad 550 calories

Dinner : Homemade cheese pizza 392 calories

Exercise : lots and lots of rest = no calories burned but feeling much better.

Shelley: Day 46


This is going to be super short, why you ask. . .because Vampire Diaries is back tonight! I recorded it and Jason is putting Will down which means I can watch it!!!!! Ok, I know, smut right. Total trash TV but I am addicted to it so go ahead and judge away and I will enjoy my show just the same;).

Pretty normal food day. Tonight I went to the grocery store to buy some of Lay's Light Chips (I LOVE LOVE LOVE these). They are half the calories of regular chips but taste EXACTLY the same. I got them for a party we are going to on Saturday. I also bought some fat free sour cream that is actually really good for the dip. The ranch powder only had five calories per serving so that works out to about 22 calories per 2Tbsp of the dip I am making. I'm also going to make the full calorie version for all those who can't stand the word "light". But the "light" dip is just as good and way easier on the bottom line. . .that was a little ode to Kaisi's hilarious post from earlier today in case you missed it.

Shelley: Day 45


Today was a total energy struggle. We have been doing CIO and Will actually did pretty well last night but I feel guilty and worry that he is uncomfortable in perhaps a wet diaper, etc. so I struggled to sleep.

We had a really slow morning and then headed to the store. I had one of my favorite lunches, Dr. McDougall's Ramen Chicken Flavor. It's much lower in sodium than many other ramen type items and lower in calories as well. It's extremely filling and only 200 calories. The best part, it's super fast. When I don't think I'll be able to keep myself from eating a chair or a steering wheel;) it's my go to. You can usually find it in the natural foods section of the grocery store but I've never tried to find it anywhere but California so no promises to our friends who are out of state.

I was a little naughty at the grocery store. I love those stupid potato wedges and I'll fess up I totally bought a small handful. I shared with Will but still, I know, not good. I went ahead and bought a sami with grilled chicken for Will and I to share as an early dinner.

Kaisi: Day 45

Hi Ladies!. Tonight is going to be short because I am TIRED!. My little one woke up before I even had to get up for work today, so I had breakfast fairly early. Meaning, I didn't wait until 10 like I have been lately. Before long I was pretty hungry for lunch and my bug was sleeping, so I had a sandwich. I then had to go take Sadie to get adjusted at Palmer, so we went for a little walk over. After we were done at the school we headed home. I needed a little extra exercise, so I did a lap around NP's park. I came home and changed to head out to my Body Sculpt and Tone fitness class. It was a rough one tonight. She kicked our butts. As soon as I was done there I had to drive down to our church for a Bishop's interview. I hate that we live so far from the church, but whatever. I came home and was STARVING!. I usually am a bit hungry, but can curve it and just head to bed. Not tonight!. I came home and cooked up my squash we bought yesterday. It was itty bitty and when I was finished I just had to have something else, so I made my egg breakfast again!. Always satisfies me. Stats below....

Breakfast: 2 Eggs with peppers in a carb smart tortilla with avocado and milk.
Lunch: Turkey and Ham sandwich with avocado.
Dinner: Small yellow squash and 2 eggs with peppers in carb smart tortilla with avocado.

Workout: Walk (maybe a mile) and BS&T class.

Katie Day 45

Hooray its nighttime and soon I can head to bed. For some reason I am so exhausted today! Anyhow, my little guy has a cold and so I have been making chicken noodle soup all day and the house smells soooo good! For Breakfast and lunch I had my usual and I didn't really snack at all today because when I make chicken noodle soup I also make breadsticks and I wanted to save my calories for the breadsticks. TOTALLY worth it!! I did alter my breadsticks recipe a bit tonight to cut the calories. My recipe calls for 1/4 cup of butter that you pour onto the pan and then roll the breadsticks in. It makes them nice, buttery, and yummy! But today I changed it up a bit and sprayed olive oil on the pan and just brushed the tops of the breadsticks with butter. So I only used 2 Tbs of butter today. They were still really yummy! My breadsticks still come to about 134 calories per breadstick but I had the calories to spare tonight so I had 3! Dinner was WAY good if I do say so myself and I am proud to say that I have stayed within my 1200 calories! I even had calories left over so for dessert I had a Skinny Cow Chocolate Ice cream cup. Thanks Kaisi for introducing me to those they are so yummy! I don't know if there is a rule about how many time you can say yummy in a post but I think that I may be getting close. Needless to say, I had a nice and YUMMY day today :) Here are my calories for today :

Breakfast : my usual 155

Lunch : my usual plus about 1/4 of a peach 220 calories

Dinner : Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and Breadsticks 573 calories

Snacks : Skinny cow ice cream, weight watchers lemon cake 230 calories

Katie Day 44

What a fun day we had today! This afternoon James and I went swimming and then later on we went for a walk down to a little produce stand by our apartment. For dinner I had quiznos at Kaisi's as we watched The Bachelor Pad. While we watched Bachelor Pad Kaisi made German Pancakes for Mark and we all had a little. I haven't had German Pancakes for a long time and YUMM Kaisi you are a good cook! We had such a nice day and evening and now its time for bed! Oh and FYI I wore a pair of jeans today that I haven't been able to wear for a while HOORAY!! Ok, here is what I ate today :

Breakfast : My usual 200 calories

Lunch : My usual Bagel Flatbread 170 calories

Dinner : Turkey sandwich from Quiznos 420 calories

Snacks : Weight Watchers Cream Cakes, 1 cup Strawberries, German Pancakes 519 calories

Exercise : Swimming Leisurely about 45 min
Walking but I don't know how far the walk was I am guessing about 1 mile or so?

Shelley: Day 44

A pretty good today. Busy, but really fun. Mr. Will and I went swimming with Katie, Kaisi and some of our other friends. Will usually takes a nap at noon and as that was when we met up Will was SUPER DUPER exhausted by the time we headed home at two. Literally, the second I sat him in the car seat he passed out. When we got home I put him in his crib and he slept for THREE HOURS. I really wish I'd known he was going to sleep that long because I would have snagged a nap too.

I recently nixed any bottles in the middle of the night and that has changed how long he is awake when he wakes in the middle of the night (yeah, I know it stinks my 1yr old is still waking up multiple times a night). He used to be awake for about 15 minutes but since I have been denying the bottle he has been up for two to three hours. But it's all part of the plan. We needed to kibosh the night feedings so we could do CIO (cry it out) which we did last night. It took him about 10 minutes to finally snuggle up to his teddy bear and pass out but he was up for a few hours before that. Tonight, no more cuddles, only CIO. I know it's what's best for him so I'm just going to have to shut off my inner push over and set limits to be a good parent.

After his nap Will and I made a quick trip to Costco, fortunately, there were no samples today. After we got home Jason gave me a little break and took Will to the park to wear him out and picked up din din at Subway on the way home. Cross you fingers for me tonight I get a bit more sleep. . .

Kaisi: Day 44

Hi ladies!. Great day today. Woke up, worked as usual. It was a busy day and by 9:30 I was starvin'. I took a quick work break and made my usual eggs breakfast. After work I met up with the ladies for a pool afternoon. I didn't do much swimming since my munchkin was tired, I just laid out. Which lets be honest, is the best part of being in the sun anyways! For lunch, I had my leftover subway sandwich while we were down at the pool. After swimming, the bug and I went home to re-coop before heading out again with the girls for a walk to the farmers market. It was so fun!. Katie, I seriously love our daily walks lately. After our walk, we came back to me casa to watch Bachelor Pad's season finale. I love Michael. Seriously, class class class. Holly is a tramp for leaving him, even though I think she is kinda care free and fun. Anyways... We decided to grab some Quiznos for dinner. I haven't had Quiznos since the day we weighed in. It was yummy, but I felt fatty after. Then of course the hubs, who has been working his tail off for finals, wanted German Pancakes for dinner. I had no hesitation making them, because he deserves them. I cut Katie, Ashley and myself a small piece and we went back to our show. Well, the hubs needs some help studying, so I am off... Stats below...

Breakfast: 2 eggs with peppers mixed in, in a carb smart tortilla with guacamole.
Lunch: 6'' subway sami, turkey and ham with a fiber one brownie.
Dinner: Chicken Carbinara (regular size) with a square of German Pancakes.

Workout: 4 mile walk.

Katie Day 43

Today I went shopping and you know what . . . for the 1st time in a very long time I actually enjoyed trying on clothes! I am not where I want to be just yet but I am getting there and that feels GREAT! So again, thanks ladies for doing this with me! It felt so good to shop and pick out smaller sizes HOORAY! For dinner we ALL went on a walk to subway and it was such a nice walk and I had such a nice time. After dinner I went to Kaisi's house to hang out as our Hubbys are going to be studying for the next 2 weeks and we will be alone. We had a good time and for dessert we had a skinny cow ice cream cup and it was way yummy. Oh I forgot to fess up about this afternoon. As I was shopping with Shelley I found out that she had never been into the Godiva store at Valley Fair Mall so I had to rectify that! Yes, I did have a chocolate oyster and I DON'T regret it one bit cause they are sooo good and I haven't had a chocolate oyster for over a year!

This afternoon I had such a fun workout. Dan was home and we were listening to music and I was holding James and I started to Cha Cha with him. Dan joined us and we all danced around for about 30 minutes. It was so much fun and the perfect way to workout!

Shelley: Day 42


I would feel bad for missing a few days of posting but I'll be honest, I have been so busy with Mr. Will's First Birthday Bash I haven't had a spare second. It went off without a hitch and it was a really great group of people. I'm SOOOOOO GLAD Dan and Katie were able to come early to help. I COULD NOT have gotten everything done without them especially because I needed someone tall (thanks Dan;)) and Katie was super on top of everything I'd assigned her (which was A LOT). Also a big thanks to my Aunt Cindy for letting us use her house, for her help keeping things going, and the clean up!

I should have avoided the homemade ice cream but I couldn't. It's been forever and I am a Hansen by blood after all (we are 90% ice cream and 10%cake). But since I didn't really eat during the rest of the day I don't feel too bad.

Today was AWESOME! I was super bushed after yesterday's party and not feeling so good this morning. Fortunately, Will decided he wanted to sleep in too until 10am so Jason got the morning off and I didn't have to get up early either. I still wasn't feeling great so Jason took Will to church and I took it easy. I did manage to get my chocolate covered fruit and cupcakes out the door with Jason for today's linger longer at church so I was feeling pretty good I got so much accomplished this weekend.

Today has been a bread day. I don't know if I'm the only one but about every six months or so I just go on a bread binge. Fortunately, we had the Orowheat Whole Wheat bread around which is 90cal a slice. I did have some I Can't Believe it's Not Butter but I kept it pretty reasonable. Pretty much the only other thing I ate today were a few bites of left over chicken from yesterday (there would have been more but my cousin Doug has sticky fingers and ended up with most of the leftovers), nectarines, and apples. So as things go, it wasn't the most well balanced but I feel satisfied. I haven't done the math yet so we'll see in a second if I should have my head in the sand.
